Demystifying Fundraising

Where founders and future VCs learn how capital actually works

WHY WE BUILT IT

The Talent is here, the Knowledge wasn't

Ask a Tamil Nadu founder about product, sales, or culture and they will teach you something. Ask them about a cap table, a term sheet, or a financial model, and the room goes quiet.

That is not a talent problem. It is a knowledge gap. Most founders are never taught fundraising, financial modelling, or how investors think.

Accounting explains the past. Finance shapes the future-how much cash you need, who you hire, and how you grow over the next few years.

We built Scenius School to close that gap for good.

"Fundraising is for everyone. The way you position the business is what decides the raise."

THE MISSION

Making a dent in the startup ecosystem

We want the next generation of Tamil Nadu founders to walk into any room and hold their own. Not by luck. By understanding the game.

Our Mission
FOR FOUNDERS

Learn to raise, end to end

Founders Group
Cap tables and ownership
Understand dilution before you sign, not after the round closes.
Term sheets and agreements
Read every clause and know exactly what each one costs you.
Financial models
Build the forecast investors actually trust, line by line.
Valuation
Know how your number is built so you can defend it in the room.
Due diligence
Walk in ready for the questions before they are even asked.
Investor expectations
See yourself the way a VC sees you across the table.
PMF and GTM
Prove the problem is real and show the path to your first 100 customers.
Market sizing
Size your market the way an investor checks it, not the way a deck sells it.
The pitch deck
Build the story and the slides that survive a partner meeting.
How VCs evaluate
See the checklist behind every yes and every pass.
IP and ownership
Know what protects your business and what you actually own.
Reaching out and storytelling
Craft the story and the outreach that get a founder a first meeting.
FOR STUDENTS

Walk into venture ready

For students from finance or engineering backgrounds who want to break into VC as an analyst or in a founder's office, we prepare you the way the industry actually expects. You will not learn by trial and error on the job. You will walk in ready to shine from day one.

Students Group

Micheal Arun

MBA, Finance. Investment Banking and VC / PE

Micheal has spent his career on the investor side of the table for the last 5 years. Investment roles across a venture capital fund, a SEBI registered angel fund, and multiple accelerators.

He has evaluated more than 2000 investment opportunities, was part of the IC team for more than 40 deals ranging from $100K to $4Mn rounds, onboarded over a dozen early stage startups, and helped founders close pre-seed rounds through investor targeting, pitch refinement, and deal execution. At Scenius School he teaches founders exactly what an investor looks for, because he has been the one looking.

Sriram Selvan
The host
Host, Being Scenius podcast

Hundreds of hours sitting across from founders, operators, and investors, asking the questions through his podcast. Being Scenius became Tamil Nadu's startup podcast by taking small-town founders seriously long before anyone else did.

Scenius School is what happened next. The same founders kept getting stuck at the same place, and none of it was taught anywhere in Tamil. So he built it. And he personally talks to every single applicant before they join. No exceptions.

FOUNDER STORIES

Don't take our word for it

Real stories from founders who trusted us to bring their ideas to life.

BEFORE YOU APPLY

The honest answers

We run two streams, one for founders, one for future VCs.

Founders: You have an idea or an early-stage startup and want to raise the right way. We teach the real mechanics-cap tables, term sheets, valuations, what investors expect-before you learn them the hard way. No fundraising background needed.

Future VCs: You're a student from finance or engineering who wants to break into VC-as an analyst or in a founder's office. We give you the skills to walk in and shine from day one.

No jargon. No theory. Just how capital really moves-taught by people who've done it.

Small on purpose.

We cap every cohort to small batches for both founders and students. We keep it small so everyone gets personal attention and real one-to-one time, instead of getting lost in a crowd. Quality over quantity, always.

Once you fill the form, Sriram will reach out for a short conversation to understand where you are today and make sure the program is the right fit.

If you're a founder: we'll talk about your idea or business and where you are in your journey.

If you're a student: we'll talk about your background and where you want to go in VC.

If it's a match, we'll onboard you into the cohort and share the schedule and next steps.

The form itself takes about less than 5 minutes to fill out. After you submit, we usually get back to you within 1-2 days over a call. Seats are limited so earlier applications get priority.
